Insights
Automatic anomaly detection and a plain-English daily summary of what changed — so you don't have to piece it together from charts.
Insights watch your analytics for you and surface what changed, instead of making you stare at dashboards. When something notable happens — traffic swings, a conversion drop, a source that appears or disappears — it shows up in the insights feed, correlated with any deploy that landed around the same time.
Insights are available on the Agency plan.
The insights feed
A 🔔 bell sits in your site's dashboard header, between the heatmaps and settings icons. A red dot means there's something new. Click it to see recent findings — each is a short, specific statement like:
Unique visitors were down 46% versus a typical Tuesday (128 → 69). Around the same time, you shipped Deploy #218.
Opening the panel clears the dot.
What we watch
Three signals, each checked once a day against the previous complete day and gated by a minimum traffic volume so small numbers never trigger false alarms:
- Traffic — up or down sharply versus your typical same-weekday baseline.
- Goals — a meaningful drop in a goal's conversion rate versus its recent average.
- Sources — a source that carried real traffic then vanished, or a new source that suddenly spikes (e.g. a referral surge).
When a deploy landed on or just before the day a finding is about, it's noted alongside — a timing correlation, never a claim that the deploy caused the change.
AI daily summary (opt-in)
If you turn on AI insights, each day's findings are fused into one plain-English paragraph — a quick read on what happened without scanning individual cards:
Tuesday was rough: visitors and signups both dropped right after Deploy #218, and your Hacker News referral dried up.
The summary appears at the top of the insights feed and, when there's something to report, lands in a short daily email to workspace owners and admins. Quiet days send no email.
How it works and what's sent
The summary is written by Claude (Anthropic). Importantly, the AI only narrates findings we've already computed — it never sees or analyzes raw visitor data, and it can't invent numbers or causes. Only aggregate, non-personal statements (like "conversion dropped 14% on /pricing") are sent.
- Off by default. Enable it under Settings → Workspace → AI insights. Until then, nothing is sent to Anthropic — the feed and anomaly detection work regardless.
- No visitor-level data leaves Ometra, and Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models. Anthropic is listed as a subprocessor in our DPA.
- Turn it off anytime; the feed keeps working without the AI summary.
